CreateAthon@WVU | May 2018

WVU Professor Geah Pressgrove shared details on the energy, creativity and caffeine surrounding this year’s CreateAthon program at WVU’s Reed College of Media.

The concept, originally developed at a public relations agency in another state, is now part of her capstone class.  As part of their class, students divide into teams and are assigned to one of the three nonprofit organizations selected for the semester.  She said students meet with clients to understand their issues, needs and desired outcomes, conduct research and generate strategic plans prior to the 24-hour CreateAthon event.  Pressgrove works to get donations of food and caffeine for the event.

She showed examples of the outstanding work created by the teams during the intensive period of a day.  Teams created printed materials, web sites, videos and more from information learned and resources gathered throughout the semester.  The three organizations will be using the work created, and Morgantown Printing & Binding even donated in-kind services to the winning team.
